Applications are invited for the following Bursaries and Scholarships which will be available for the academic year 2009/2010 at the Cave Hill Campus.

Academic Bursaries
Awarded on the basis of applicant’s Academic Record with specific reference to the student’s performance in the 2008/2009 university examinations (GPA 3.0 and above).

Awarded on the basis of contribution to university life, as evidenced by the student’s participation in co-curricular activities. (Minimum GPA 3.0 is required.)

Anthony & Joy Bland Scholarships
ELIGIBILITY: Caribbean Nationals reading for a degree in LAW who have completed Part I and are registered to continue in Parts II and III of the LLB programme.
CRITERIA: Academic merit but some consideration may be given to financial need.

Barbados Community Foundation Scholarships
ELIGIBILITY: Nationals of Barbados who have completed Level I of the programme reading for a degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related discipline.

Barbados Employers Confederation Scholarship
ELIGIBILITY: Barbadian nationals enrolled at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus

Barbados Olympic Association Scholarships
ELIGIBILITY: Two (2) 4-year awards to nationals of Barbados who:
(1) have obtained admission to the UWI, Cave Hill Campus to read for a first degree in any field of study.
(2) Achieved a high level of performance in at least one sporting discipline under the aegis of the International Olympic Committee.
CRITERIA: Academic Merit and sporting performance.
VALUE: BD$2,500.00 each per annum.
Barbados Shipping & Trading Co. Ltd. Scholarships
ELIGIBILITY:– Two 2-year awards to nationals of Barbados;
One (1) for a student reading for a degree in Management Studies, which can include a major or minor in any Social Sciences discipline and the other majoring Computer Science or Information Technology with Management whether as a major or minor. Candidates must be under the age of 25 years on 31st of January, in the year of the award. He/She must have successfully completed Level I of the programme with at least a GPA 3.3 and should be entering Level II of the programme.
CRITERIA: Academic Merit and involvement in extra curricular activities. Consideration will also be given to Financial Need.
VALUE: BDS$5,000.00 each per annum.
Candidates will be required to undertake two (2) work attachments in the Summer within the Barbados Shipping & Trading (BS&T) Group of Companies during the two-year period.
CampusBoyz® Entertainment Educational Bursary
ELIGIBILITY: 2 awards are open to CARICOM nationals who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus to read for a degree in any discipline. . Candidates must be between the 16 – 25 years of age pursuing a first degree, first year, full-time studies at the Cave Hill Campus.

Cidel Bank& Trust Inc. Scholarship

Eligibility: Open to nationals of Barbados who have completed Level I of the programme, reading for an undergraduate degree in Management, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, Information Technology or a combination of these. A minimum 3.3 GPA average is required.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to any CARICOM national admitted to the Faculty of Law as a full-time candidate for the LLB degree, and who in the final year of the LLB programme, has received the highest Grade not lower than A in the Course Offshore Financial Law. In the event that there is more than one candidate receiving the same highest grade in the course, the winner of the Scholarship may be determined by considering the actual Marks each candidate received in the Final Examination in the Course.

FirstCaribbean International Scholarships

ELIGIBILITY: The Scholarships are offered to students at any campus of the University of the West Indies in any discipline as follows:

Goddard Enterprises Scholarship
ELIGIBILITY: Open to nationals of Barbados, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines registered in Accounting, Agriculture, Computer Science, Engineering and Management Studies, who have successfully completed one academic year of study at the UWI leading to a degree in that discipline. Priority will be given to students pursuing a degree majoring either in Computer Science or Management Studies.

Herman C. Stoute Memorial Fund Scholarships
Four (4) Scholarships are available:
Three (3) for Barbadian nationals who are past or present students of Combermere School who have been accepted for a degree programme by the University of the West Indies and
One (1) for nationals of Commonwealth Caribbean Countries contributing to the University of the West Indies other than Barbados.
Students must be enrolled in a degree programme at this Campus.

ELIGIBILITY: Nationals of Barbados entering Level III of the programme and reading for a Degree majoring in Accounting.

Kregg Nurse Award For Vision And Fortitude
ELIGIBILITY: Open to students registered at the Cave Hill Campus to read for a degree majoring in any discipline. The awardee must have successfully completed at least one year of study at the Cave Hill Campus.
The award shall be based on nominations from the Deans of Faculties and/or the Guild of Students. Nominee must have identifiable personal challenges in order to be considered. Nominees for the award should have demonstrated success in overcoming personal challenges.VALUE: BDS$3,000.00

ELIGIBILITY: Two 2-year scholarships open to nationals of Barbados who are entering the Level II programme of the B.Sc. in Computer Science.VALUE: BDS$5,000 each per annum

ELIGIBILITY: Nationals of CARICOM countries in any Faculty entering their Penultimate or final year - in the case of Medical students, those who are entering their Clinical Year; in the case of B.Ed. students, those who are entering their final year.

The Police Wives Association [Barbados] Educational Awards and Bursaries
The Award is open to all persons who have gained admission to a University to pursue full-time study leading to a degree. Special consideration will be given to children of persons directly employed with Law enforcement agencies.
- The Bursaries are open to persons pursuing full-time study at a University or Tertiary Level Institution. Bursaries may also be awarded for Technical level study.

Sylvia Gore Moseley Memorial Scholarship
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all students of the University of the West Indies who have completed at least the first year of study in any Faculty at any Campus or in any of the countries of the UWI-12 and who are continuing into second or third year programmes in any Faculty at the Cave Hill Campus.
CRITERIA: Financial Need. Academic performance should only be taken into account as a tie breaker.
VALUE: BDS$3,000.00 per annum. In addition, there shall be a textbook GRANT of $600.00 payable as a refund on the presentation of the relevant receipts.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to nationals of Dominica who are undergraduate students registered for a major in Hotel/Tourism Management at the Cave Hill Campus.

Telford Georges Memorial Scholarship
ELIGIBILITY: Open to nationals of the Eastern Caribbean who are registered as full-time students in the Faculty of Law and is based on the Grade Point Average achieved on the Level I Law examinations of the LLB programme at the Cave Hill Campus.
