ELIGIBILITY: Barbadian nationals enrolled in the Faculty of Humanities and Education at the Cave Hill Campus pursuing a degree with a major or minor in Literatures of English. 

CRITERIA: Financial Need (Academic Merit may also be considered)

VALUE: CAN$300.00 per annum

American Foundation for the University of the West Indies Scholarship

DURATION: 1 year

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Be nationals of CARICOM countries
  • Must matriculate for entry to the any of the UWI campuses and /or continuing course of study at any of the UWI campuses
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Have proven financial need
  • Be involved in community /volunteer extracurricular activity /service
  • Meet all other requirements of the UWI pertinent to student behavior, discipline and performance

 

VALUE: Between USD $2000- USD $5000

 


Anthony & Joy Bland Scholarships

ELIGIBILITY: Caribbean Nationals reading for a degree in LAW who have completed Part I and are registered to continue in Parts II and III of the LLB programme.

CRITERIA: Academic merit but some consideration may be given to financial need.

VALUE: Scholarships - BDS$5,000.00 each   (2) Bursary - BDS$2,500.00

Barbados Employers Confederation Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: Barbadian nationals enrolled at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus

DEGREE: Major in Management Studies including courses in Industrial Relations

CRITERIA: Academic Merit

Barbados International Business Association (BIBA) Scholarships

Instructions – Please submit on a separate application form
No of Awards: Five (5)

ELIGIBILITY: Open to Barbadian nationals at the Cave Hill Campus, who are 24 years or younger, pursuing undergraduate studies in management, finance, economics, law or combinations of these disciplines.

CRITERIA: Participation in the UWI International Exchange and Study Abroad Programmes and academic merit.

VALUE: US$1500.00 each

Barbados Workers’ Union Cooperative Credit Union Ltd (BWUCCUL) Winfield Belle Memorial Scholarship Scholarships

ELIGIBILITY: Open to members of the BWUCCUL or the children or wards of members who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus to read for a degree majoring in any discipline or are students registered for a full-time programme.

CRITERIA: Academic merit and financial need.

VALUE: BDS $2,500.00

Cave Hill Campus Sports Scholarship

Instructions – Please submit on a separate application form

No of Awards : Ten (10)

ELIGIBILITY: Nationals of the Caribbean Community who:

  • Have gained admission, or qualified for admission for full-time study at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus to read for a three or four-year degree undergraduate programme in any discipline.
  • Have demonstrated an exceptional capacity for a high level of performance in a sports discipline; as verified by the Head, Academy of Sport.

CRITERIA: Performance in the sporting discipline, as assessed by the Head, Academy of Sport, evidence of capacity to complete the course of study and financial need.

VALUE: Economic cost, amenities and tuition fees applicable to the Cave Hill Campus at the time of the Award.
Plus the value of maintenance and incidental expenses as stipulated by the University which for the time being the value shall be BDS$6000.00 per annum.

Cave Hill Campus Sports Grant

No of Awards : Ten (10)

ELIGIBILITY: Nationals of the Caribbean Community who:

  • have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus to read for a three or four year programme in any discipline offered by the Campus;
  • have a demonstrated track record of high performance in a recognised sport discipline as  verified by the Head, Academy of Sport, Cave Hill.

CRITERIA: Proven performance in a Sports discipline and  financial need.

VALUE: BDS$3,000.00 each

No of Awards: One (1)

Eligibility: Open to nationals of Barbados who have completed Level I of the programme, reading for an undergraduate degree in Management, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, Information Technology or a combination of these. A minimum 3.0 GPA average is required.

NO. OF AWARDS: One (1)

ELIGIBILITY: The Award is open to nationals of the OECS countries who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus to read for a Degree in any discipline.

TENURE: One (1) year

Ernst & Young Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: Caribbean nationals registered in the Level II programmes and reading for degrees in the following areas: Management, Economics and Management, Computer Science and Management, Accounting, Accounting and Economics, Accounting with minor in Economics, Computer Science and Accounting.

CRITERIA: Academic merit. Financial need may also be taken into consideration

VALUE: BDS$6,000.00

It is expected that the successful candidate will undertake a summer internship at Ernst & Young during the period June – August before entering final year.

FirstCaribbean International Scholarships

NO OF SCHOLARSHIPS: Fifteen (15)

ELIGIBILITY: The Scholarships are offered to students at any campus of the University of the West Indies in any discipline as follows:

• Three (3) scholarships for nationals of Barbados
• Three (3) scholarships for nationals of Jamaica
• Three (3) scholarships for nationals of Trinidad & Tobago
• Two (2) scholarships for nationals of the Bahamas
• Three (3) scholarships for nationals of the OECS territories
• One (1) scholarship for a national from any Caribbean country who is the child of an employee of the Bank.

CRITERIA: Exceptional academic performance

VALUE: US$2,500.00 each

ELIGIBILITY:Open to nationals of the OECS who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus to read for a degree in any discipline.

Gildan Activewear SRL Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: One 2 year award to Barbadian nationals who have successfully completed the first year of study at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus leading to a first degree in Management, Accounting, Finance or a related field.

VALUE: BDS$2,500 per annum

CRITERIA:Academic Merit and Financial Need.

 

It is expected that the successful candidate will complete an internship of 2 months after Level II and of 3 months after the final year of study.

Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: Nationals of Barbados entering Level III of the programme and reading for a Degree majoring in Accounting.

VALUE: BDS$2,500

CRITERIA: Academic merit. Consideration will also be given to contributions to the social/cultural life of the Campus.

Insurance Corporation Of Barbados Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: - Open to nationals of Barbados majoring in an Accounting or Management option, and who have completed at least one year of study in the relevant discipline at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.

ELIGIBILITY: Two 2-year scholarships open to nationals of Barbados who are entering the Level II programme of the B.Sc. in Computer Science.

VALUE: BDS$5,000 each per annum

Mill Reef Fund Education Grant

Instructions – Please submit on a separate application form

NO. OF AWARDS : ONE (1)

MAXIMUM TENURE: 3/5 years (based on programme and faculty regulations)

VALUE: US$8,000 Annually


ELIGIBILITY :

  • Citizens or registered  certificate holders of Antigua & Barbuda
  • New or continuing students pursuing an undergraduate programme  who have not already completed a degree programme at any University
  • Must not be the holder or recipient of any other Scholarship/Grant nor the Island Scholar

 

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED:

  • UWl’s application and acceptance letter
  • CAPE and CXC Scores
  • Secondary school transcript
  • A one page essay on the Applicant's educational goals
  • 2 character reference letters
  • Certified copy of Birth Certificate or Registration Certificate

 

REQUIREMENTS TO MAINTAIN:

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or any other stipulation that the UWI/Donor  may from time to time require
  • Full time and continuous attendance to classes
  • A Regular course load
  • Sustained good citizenship
  • Express his/her intention to return to Antigua & Barbuda following graduation.
  • Write a letter to MRF annually on his/her university experience.

 

 


Neal & Massy BS&T Scholarships

NO. OF SCHOLARSHIPS : TWO (2)

ELIGIBILITY : Nationals of Barbados reading for a degree in

  1. 1) Management Studies Special or with concentrations in Finance, Human Resources, International Business, Marketing or with a major or minor in Accounting , or Economics.

OR

  1. 2) As a double major in Computer Science/Information Technology and Management and/or Accounting and Finance.

CRITERIA: Academic merit, involvement in extracurricular activities and financial need

VALUE: BDS$5,000

Candidates will be required to undertake work attachments within Neal & Massy Barbados companies in the summer during the period of the award.


Olton Springer Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: Nationals of Barbados reading for a degree in the Faculty of Law or in the Faculty of Humanities, Education or the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences who are entering LEVEL II of the programme.

CRITERIA: Academic Merit and Financial Need

ELIGIBILITY : Open to nationals of any Caribbean Country who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus reading for the Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science and Electronics.

CRITERIA: Academic merit and financial need

VALUE: Mathematics - BDS$3,000.00 , Physics - BDS$2,000.00

 


Peter Jones Memorial Grant of the Kiwanis Club Barbados South

ELIGIBILITY:Open to nationals of Barbados who have been accepted at the Cave Hill Campus and registered as a full-time student in any Faculty.

CRITERIA: Primarily on Financial Need, but may also take into account academic performance.

VALUE: BDS$3,000.00 PER ANNUM

The Police Wives Association [Barbados] Educational Awards and Bursaries

 

The Award is open to all persons who have gained admission to a University to pursue full-time study leading to a degree. Special consideration will be given to children of persons directly employed with Law enforcement agencies.

  1. The Bursaries are open to persons pursuing full-time study at a University or Tertiary Level Institution. Bursaries may also be awarded for Technical level study.

CRITERIA: Academic merit and financial need

VALUE:

Scholarship: BDS$ 2,500.00 per annum
Bursaries: The value of the bursaries shall be determined annually.

 

  1. Barbados Police Co-Operative Credit Union Ltd Carter and Hutson Memorial Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: Barbadian nationals who are members of the Barbados Police Co-Operative Credit Union or the children/wards of members in good standing, who have successfully completed the first year of study with a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus leading to a first degree in any discipline.

 
CRITERIA: Academic Merit  (Financial need will only be considered as a tie-breaker)

The Ralph Boyce Scholarships (sponsored by the Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Ltd)

NO. OF SCHOLARSHIPS : TWO (2)

ELIGIBILITY : Nationals of Barbados who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies to read for a degree in any discipline. Candidates must be between the ages of 16-25 years and pursuing a First Degree, first year, full-time studies at any Campus of the University of the West Indies. Candidates must be members in good standing of the Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Limited for at least three (3) years.

CRITERIA: Academic merit and Financial Need

VALUE: BDS$7,500.00 for studies at Cave Hill Campus, BDS$9,000.00 for studies at any other Campus of the University of the West Indies.

 

Richard Cheltenham Q.C. Scholarships

NO. OF SCHOLARSHIPS : TWO (2) and ONE (1) Grant

ELIGIBILITY : The scholarships are open to nationals of Barbados and countries of the OECS who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies , Cave Hill Campus to read for a Degree in the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Social Sciences.

CRITERIA: Academic merit and financial need

VALUE:

Scholarship: BDS$3,500.00 each

Grant: BDS$2,000.00 per annum

 

Sagicor Life Inc. Scholarship (1)

ELIGIBILITY: Nationals of Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago; who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies to read for a degree majoring in the field of Business Studies.

CRITERIA: Academic Merit

VALUE: BDS$5,000.00 per annum

 

 

Sagicor Life Inc. Scholarship (2)

ELIGIBILITY: Nationals of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts-Nevis, , St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago; who have successfully completed at least one academic year of study at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus leading to a degree in Accounting, Computer Science and Business Administration.

CRITERIA: Academic Merit and Financial Need

VALUE: BDS$5,000.00 per annum

 


Scotiabank Barbados Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: Open to a national of Barbados who is (1) under the age of 21 on the 31st December in the year of the award; (2) obtained admission or is qualified for admission to the University of the West Indies; (3) reading for a first degree in Business and Administrative Studies and other areas of social need including:- Medicine, Agriculture, Engineering, Education and Social Administration.

CRITERIA: Academic merit and Financial Need.

VALUE: BDS$7,000.00 per annum

Scotiabank Eastern Caribbean Scholarship (Grenada)


NO OF SCHOLARSHIPS: One (1)

ELIGIBILITY: Open to nationals of Grenada who have gained admission to the UWI and to the Programme in respect of which he/she has applied for the Scholarship.

CRITERIA: Financial need, academic merit and charater.

VALUE: Minimum of EC$15,000 per annum.

The Sol Group Scholarship

 

No of Awards: Eight (8) 

ELIGIBILITY: Open to nationals from the OECS and Caribbean region who are full-time registered undergraduate students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in the Faculties of Engineering, Science & Technology and Social Sciences at any Campus of the University of the West Indies.

CRITERIA: Academic merit, demonstrated leadership in work or community sphere and financial need.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to nationals of the Eastern Caribbean who are registered as full-time students in the Faculty of Law and is based on the Grade Point Average achieved on the Level I Law examinations of the LLB programme at the Cave Hill Campus.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • 2nd year students
  • Students with 3.0 GPAs
  • Students who demonstrate need
  • Preference will be given to eligible students who were awarded UWI Toronto Gala scholarships for the academic year 2013-2014

UWI ALUMNI CIRCLE SCHOLARSHIP

NO OF SCHOLARSHIPS: One (1)

ELIGIBILITY: Open to undergraduate students who are entering level II and or Level III of their programme in any Faculty, in any discipline and are nationals from any of the UWI contributing countries. A student shortlisted for the scholarship will be required to submit an essay of approximately 500 words on why he/she should be chosen and how he/she hopes to contribute to the development of Caribbean society after graduation.
