Residence & Living Expenses 2009-2010


Following is a break-down of the costs of accommodation and average living expenses for a student staying at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies.

Note: All costs are quoted in BDS$, $USD 1.00 = $BDS 2.00.

On-campus accommodation is calculated for Semester I from August 30 – December 22, 2009 and for Semester II from January 24 – May 12, 2010.

 

Any resident wanting to remain on Halls outside of the semester will be required to notify the Halls Administrator in advance. The charge is BDS$40.00 per night (single room) and $30.00 per night (double room) $50.00 (two-bedroom/Post Graduate). All fees are to be made payable to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.


Students who are desirous of retaining their rooms over the Christmas break are asked to note the additional fee of BDS $544.00 for this period.

Students who do not reside in Barbados should make provision for the cost of a return airfare and allocate approximately Bds$500.00 to meet their “settling-in” expenses in Barbados.

 

Scholarship, Bursary and other award holders are advised to travel with enough money to cover the cost of at least one month’s expenses pending receipt of their emoluments.

 

Estimated cost of the production of term papers follows:

  • Graduate
    • Research Papers: $BDS 500.00 - $BDS 600.00
    • Theses: $BDS 800.00 - $BDS 1,000.00

  • Undergraduate
    • B. A., B. Sc., LL. B.: $BDs 400.00
    • B. Ed.: $BDS 600.00
