How to Apply for an Undergraduate Scholarship

  • STEP 1: REVIEW Available Scholarships below.
     
  • STEP 2: SELECT scholarships for which you meet the eligibility criteria  (listed in the description of each scholarship).
  • STEP 4: SUBMIT completed Application Forms to Student Affairs (Records) by JUNE 30, 2018. The form can also be emailed to records@cavehill.uwi.edu or faxed to (246) 425-1327 or (246) 424-7392.
  • Applicants from the Mona, St. Augustine and Open Campuses must submit an Official Transcript.
  • Successful applicants will be notified via their assigned UWI email address e.g Firstname.Lastname@mycavehill.uwi.edu.

Insurance Corporation Of Barbados Scholarship

Duration: up to 2 years
Eligibility: Open to nationals of Barbados majoring in an Accounting or Management option, and who have completed at least one year of study in the relevant discipline at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.
Value: BDS$2,500.00 per annum

Kurleigh King Memorial Scholarship

Duration: 2 years
Eligibility: Two 2-year scholarships open to nationals of Barbados who are entering the Level II programme of the B.Sc. Management [Entrepreneurship] or B.Sc. Management [International Business].
Value: BDS$5,000 each per annum
Criteria: Academic merit; Financial need will be considered as a supplementary factor

Massy BS&T Scholarships

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados reading for a degree in 1) Management Studies Special or with concentrations in Finance, Human Resources, International Business, Marketing or with a major or minor in Accounting , or Economics. OR 2) As a double major in Computer Science/Information Technology and Management and/or Accounting and Finance.
Value: BDS$5,000
Criteria: Academic merit, involvement in extracurricular activities and financial need. Candidates will be required to undertake work attachments within Neal & Massy Barbados companies in the summer during the period of the award.

McIntyre/Nettleford Vice-Chancellors' Scholarship

Duration: Maximum tenure 2 years
Eligibility: The award is available to a Full-time undergraduate student who i. is registered at one of the UWI's on-Campus Facilities (Mona, Cave Hill or St Augustine) ii. is entering the 2nd or final year. iii. has a minimum GPA of 2.5 iv. demonstrates financial need.
Value: US$6,000.00 per annum
Criteria: The award covers the following costs as estimated by UWI for UGC funded programmes. -tuition -accommodation -books and incidentals -guild fees and miscellaneous -possibility of a semester at Oxford(to be covered by UWI) Completed applications should be submitted to the relevant Scholarship Office at the respective Campus on/before 20 July 2018.

Mill Reef Fund Education Grant

Duration: Two/Four (2/4) years (based on programme and Faculty regulations)
Eligibility: The award is available to: • Citizens or registered certificate holders of Antigua & Barbuda; • Continuing students pursuing an undergraduate programme who have not already completed a degree programme at any university. • The award will be based on high academic performance.
Value: US$18,000 per annum
Criteria: DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED: • Copy of UWl’s Transcript • A one page essay on the Applicant's educational goals • 2 character reference letters • Certified copy of Birth Certificate or Registration Certificate REQUIREMENTS TO MAINTAIN: • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or any other stipulation that the UWI/Donor may from time to time require • Full time and continuous attendance to classes • A Regular course load • Sustained good citizenship • Express his/her intention to return to Antigua & Barbuda following Graduation. • Write a letter to MRF annually on his/her university experience. The successful candidate shall NOT be: • the holder or recipient of any other Scholarship or Grant support; • the island Scholar, as defined by the Antigua's National Scholarship Committee. Please submit on a separate application form by 15 July 2018

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados reading for a degree in the Faculty of Law or in the Faculty of Humanities, Education or the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences who are entering LEVEL II of the programme.

Oran Family Trust Scholarship

Duration: up to 3 years
Eligibility: Barbadian nationals who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies to read for an undergraduate degree majoring in Engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology or Environmental Science.
Value: BDS$4,500.00 – $6,000.00 per annum (dependent on the area of study),
Criteria: Academic merit and financial need. Shortlisted applicants will be required to submit a short essay of approximately 500 words on “What I will be studying and why should I receive this Scholarship” or “If I had the power to solve one problem in this world, what would it be and why.”

Patricia Ismond Memorial Award

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Nationals of St Lucia who have matriculated for entry to UWI and or continuing course of study at the UWI. 2nd or 3rd student enrolled in a programme devoted to the study of Literature/Literary Arts. Must be in good academic standing and maintain a minimum GPA 3.0, have proven financial need and be involved in community/volunteer extracurricular activity/service. Meet all other requirements of the UWI pertinent to student behaviour and performance.

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Open to nationals of any Caribbean Country who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus reading for the Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science and Electronics.
Value: BDS$2,000.00 or BDS$3,000.00
Criteria: Academic merit (minimum GPA of 3.50) and financial need

Criteria: Primarily on Financial Need, but may also take into account academic performance.

Duration: One (1) year
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus reading for a degree in Management Studies, Finance or Economics. The awardee must demonstrate good academic achievement: (i) existing UWI student GPA of 3.00 and above (ii) new students UWI matriculation requirements in at least 3 subjects.
Value: BDS$6,000.00

Eligibility: The scholarships are open to nationals of Barbados and countries of the OECS who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies , Cave Hill Campus to read for a Degree in the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Social Sciences.
