How to Apply for an Undergraduate Scholarship

  • STEP 1: REVIEW Available Scholarships below.
     
  • STEP 2: SELECT scholarships for which you meet the eligibility criteria  (listed in the description of each scholarship).
  • STEP 4: SUBMIT completed Application Forms to Student Affairs (Records) by JUNE 30, 2017. The form can also be emailed to records@cavehill.uwi.edu or faxed to (246) 425-1327 or (246) 424-7392.
  • Applicants from the Mona, St. Augustine and Open Campuses must submit an Official Transcript.
  • Successful applicants will be notified via their assigned UWI email address e.g Firstname.Lastname@mycavehill.uwi.edu.

Kurleigh King Memorial Scholarship

Duration: 2 years
Eligibility: Two 2-year scholarships open to nationals of Barbados who are entering the Level II programme of the B.Sc. Management [Entrepreneurship] or B.Sc. Management [International Business].
Value: BDS$5,000 each per annum
Criteria: Academic merit; Financial need will be considered as a supplementary factor

Massy BS&T Scholarships

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados reading for a degree in 1) Management Studies Special or with concentrations in Finance, Human Resources, International Business, Marketing or with a major or minor in Accounting , or Economics. OR 2) As a double major in Computer Science/Information Technology and Management and/or Accounting and Finance.
Value: BDS$5,000
Criteria: Academic merit, involvement in extracurricular activities and financial need. Candidates will be required to undertake work attachments within Neal & Massy Barbados companies in the summer during the period of the award.

Mill Reef Education Grant: For Antiguan citizens only

Duration: 3/5 years (based on programme and faculty regulations)
Eligibility: The award is available to: • Citizens or registered certificate holders of Antigua & Barbuda • New or continuing students pursuing an undergraduate programme who have not already completed a degree programme at any university • The award will be based on high academic performance. The successful candidate shall NOT be: • the holder or recipient of any other Scholarship or Grant support; • the island Scholar, as defined by the Antigua's National Scholarship Committee.
Value: up to US$16,000 per annum
Criteria: DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED: • UWl’s application and acceptance letter • CAPE and CXC Scores • Secondary school transcript • A one page essay on the Applicant's educational goals • 2 character reference letters • Certified copy of Birth Certificate or Registration Certificate REQUIREMENTS TO MAINTAIN: • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or any other stipulation that the UWI/Donor may from time to time require • Full time and continuous attendance to classes • A Regular course load • Sustained good citizenship • Express his/her intention to return to Antigua & Barbuda following Graduation. • Write a letter to MRF annually on his/her university experience. Olton Springer Scholarship

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados reading for a degree in the Faculty of Law or in the Faculty of Humanities, Education or the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences who are entering LEVEL II of the programme.

Oran Family Trust Scholarship

Duration: up to 3 years
Eligibility: Barbadian nationals who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies to read for an undergraduate degree majoring in Engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology or Environmental Science.
Value: BDS$4,500.00 – $6,000.00 per annum (dependent on the area of study),
Criteria: Academic merit and financial need. Shortlisted applicants will be required to submit a short essay of approximately 500 words on “What I will be studying and why should I receive this Scholarship” or “If I had the power to solve one problem in this world, what would it be and why.”

Patterson Cheltenham Q.C. Scholarship

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Open to nationals of any Caribbean Country who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus reading for the Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science and Electronics.
Value: BDS$2,000.00 or BDS$3,000.00
Criteria: Academic merit (minimum GPA of 3.50) and financial need

Peter Jones Memorial Grant of the Kiwanis Club Barbados South

Duration: per annum
Eligibility: Open to nationals of Barbados who have been accepted at the Cave Hill Campus and registered as a full-time student in any Faculty.
Value: BDS$3,000.00 PER ANNUM
Criteria: Primarily on Financial Need, but may also take into account academic performance.

RBC Royal Bank Scholarship

Duration: One (1) Year
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados who have gained admission to the Cave Hill Campus pursing a degree in Management Studies, Finance or Economics. Good academic achievement evidenced by the following: (i) Existing UWI Student - GPA 3.0 and above; (ii) New UWI Student - UWI matriculation requirements in at least three (3) subjects
Value: BDS$6,000.00
Criteria: Academic achievement; Financial need; Community/extracurricular involvement; Leadership, Participation in specific activities and Awards and recognition

Richard Cheltenham Q.C. Scholarships

Duration: per annum
Eligibility: The scholarships are open to nationals of Barbados and countries of the OECS who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies , Cave Hill Campus to read for a Degree in the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Value: Scholarship: BDS$3,500.00 each Grant: BDS$2,000.00 per annum

Duration: up to 3 years
Eligibility: Open to a national of Barbados who is (1) under the age of 21 on the 31st December in the year of the award; (2) obtained admission or is qualified for admission to the University of the West Indies; (3) reading for a first degree in Business and Administrative Studies and other areas of social need including:- Medicine, Agriculture, Engineering, Education and Social Administration.

Duration: Up to 3 years
Eligibility: Open to nationals of Grenada and St. Lucia who have gained admission to the UWI and to the Programme in respect of which he/she has applied for the Scholarship.
Value: Minimum of EC$15,000 per annum.
Criteria: Financial need, academic merit and character.
