Subscriptions / Notes for Contributors

The Caribbean Educational Research Journal (CERJ) is a fully refereed journal published twice annually, in April and September, by the School of Education at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados.

CERJ is dedicated to building an expanding base for advancing educational research, practice and policy in the Caribbean.

This new journal invites contributions of scholarly articles in education from researchers, educators, and other professionals, on important professional and intellectual issues in the field which are of relevance to the Caribbean. Submissions can be made in any of the following categories: empirical research, other research studies, in-depth opinions/discourses on education; and may relate to educational theory and practice in teaching, learning, curriculum, administration, policy and planning, or research methodology.

Three hard copies of the manuscripts should be submitted. (Authors of papers accepted for publication will be asked to submit a copy on diskette formatted in WordPerfect 6.0 or above). Manuscripts should not be more than 5000 words in length; and should be accompanied by an abstract of 100 - 150 words. All articles should conform to the style of the APA Manual (4th Edition, 1994), and should be typed on 8.5 x 11 inch paper, double-spaced.

CERJ is published twice annually. It is an internationally refereed journal which targets professional educators and is designed to provide informed and analytical commentaries on significant educational issues in, and relevant to, the Caribbean.

Notes for Contributors

Presentation:

Articles submitted for publication should be not more than 5000 words, with an abstract of 100-150 words. Authors should also submit:

Three copies of manuscripts including references, with double-spaced typing on one side of each page only.

Brief biographical notes with full name and associated institution, on a separate page.

A text page with the complete title only - no list of the author(s).

A separate sheet with the title of the manuscript and the name(s) of the author(s).

Upon acceptance of an article for publication, contributors will be asked to submit a copy of the article on 3½ inch disk, in WordPerfect (version 6.1 or above), or in MS Word.

Contributors are reminded that the articles are accepted on the understanding that they do not in any way infringe on any existing copyright, and further, that the contributor or contributors will indemnify the publisher regarding any such breach. By submitting their manuscript, the authors agree that the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute their articles have been given to the Publishers, including reprints, photographic or electronic reproductions, microfilm or any other similar reproductions.

Review Process:

All articles submitted to the journal will be anonymously reviewed to determine their suitability for publication. The final decision regarding publication rests with the Editorial Committee. Unaccepted articles will not be returned.

Manuscripts:

Manuscript preparation, including references and bibliography, should follow the guidelines of the Publication Manual of the APA 4th edition, 1994. The bibliography should contain only those references that are cited in the text. Their accuracy is the responsibility of the author(s).

Figures and Tables:

Charts, diagrams and figures should be presented camera-ready on separate sheets of paper and be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals, with an indication of where in the text you would wish each figure to appear. Tables should also be presented camera-ready on separate sheets of paper, and be numbered consecutively indicating where in the text you would wish to see them appear. All captions should be clear and unambiguous.

Other Materials:

In addition to articles, the Journal from time to time may publish a variety of other types of material including:

Commentaries;

Major statements on public policy issues, e.g., Government White Papers and Reports, major speeches/lectures from state and private sources;

Book reviews; and

Current Bibliography.

The Editor reserves the right to make any corrections or alterations considered necessary. Authors will receive two complimentary copies of the Caribbean Educational Research Journal.
