Requirements for Special in Psychology
The Special consists of 54 credits (18 courses) in Psychology over the three levels. Students are required to complete five courses in Psychology at Levle I, seven courses in Psychology at Level II and six courses in Psychology at Level III, as set out below. N.B. The PSYC 3011 Research Paper in Psychology (equivalent to HUMN 3099) is a year-long Faculty requirement for six (6) credits :

7. FOUN1008 Rhetoric II - Writing for Special Purposes
8. One Level I Elective outside the Psychology Major but from within the Faculty
9. Level I Foreign Language Course (if required, see Foreign Language requirement ***) OR One (1) Level I Elective outside the Psychology major but offered within the Faculty (where Foreign Language requirement is not applicable)

* Prerequisite: Grade 1 CXC English Language or equivalent; OR a pass in the English Proficiency Test. Students who do not have the prerequisite are required to pass the remedial course FOUN0100 Fundamentals of Written English before registering for the Language Foundation Courses.
** Please note that students who possess CAPE Communications at Grade I may be exempted from taking FOUN1001 English for Academic Purposes. However, you are advised that this is not for credit and you will be required to take another Level I course to make up the 10 courses.
*** The Foreign Language Requirement applies to students who do not have a CXC pass (Grades 1, 2 or 3 after 1998) in a foreign language, in which case they must register for one of the basic courses in Spanish or French or Portuguese.
