Astra L. Babb is a PhD graduate in the Faculty of Humanities at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. Her dissertation entitled “Ways in which students’ understanding of printed text can be facilitated by the incorporation of computer technology in the delivery of comprehension instruction and practice” explored ways in which comprehension could be enhanced for primary school students to whom computer technology was available.
Dr. Babb joined the Faculty of Humanities and Education in 2007 and is one of the tutors of the “Fundamentals of Written English” Course. She has over thirty years experience as a teacher and has conducted many workshops on “The Teaching of Reading and Literacy Studies” for primary school teachers. She was nationally recognized and awarded by the Barbados government and the Barbados Union of Teachers for excellent work in Education in the year 2000.
