Postgraduate Reading Fields in
Spanish Language and Literature
Reading Fields are not be confused with the Reading Courses. The latter can, in exceptional cases and subject to approval, be taken in order to fulfil course work requirements at the MA and MPhil levels in lieu of the taught courses (see POSTGRADUATE READING COURSES).
Reading Fields are reading lists of prescribed texts deemed important in the areas of research listed below. Candidates for the MPhil degree must complete one such field in an area of research pertinent to their thesis while candidates for the PhD degree must complete two such fields, if one has not already been completed at the MPhil level (see REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MPHIL DEGREE and REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PHD DEGREE). Candidates may substitute, in consultation with their Director, up to 20% of the list.
Supervision of Reading Fields is offered in the following areas:
- Peninsular Literature
- Spanish Caribbean Literature
- Latin American Literature
- Methodology of Teaching Foreign Languages
- Spanish Linguistics
Copies of these lists are available from the department=s Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies.
