The Cave Hill Film Society was launched in September 1999 with the mission of raising awareness of non-Hollywood cinema from different parts of the world, in particular the Caribbean. The aims of the Society, which shows films on alternate Friday nights throughout the academic year, are defined as follows:
To show films not generally available on public release in Barbados.
To represent as wide a variety as possible of "other" cinemas
To function in an open way, with members of the Society and the Department presenting films of their choice.
To invite guest speakers with a particular expertise to give special presentations and workshops to enable interested members of the Department and students to broaden their understanding and acquire skills relevant to the use of film in teaching and research.
