ABOUT THE LIBRARY
The CLR James Cricket Research Centre Library is situated on the Cave Hill campus of the University of the West Indies. It has been named in honour of Cyril Lionel Robert James, a great Caribbean scholar and an icon of cricket studies in the world. The library is located near the main entrance, opposite the 3 Ws Oval.
Membership
The library primarily serves the information and research needs of the staff and graduate students pursuing the Master’s in Cricket Studies programme, as well as a select cricketing public. However, the library is open to the entire University community engaged in cricket research.
Patrons will need a valid UWI identification card to use materials. Patrons who are not University students are issued a Member’s card for which they are charged a fee of $200.00 per year. There is a fee of $20.00 attached for processing.
The Collection and Resources
The CLR James Cricket Research Centre Library is an open and closed stack facility. The Reference collection is housed in the Reading Room. The West Indian, archival and rare book collection are housed in closed access stacks.
The collection include monographs, pamphlets, periodicals, newspaper clippings, journal articles, video tapes and DVDs. The Library’s special holdings include the CLR James manuscript for ‘Beyond a Boundary’, newspaper clippings of the West Indian cricketers in England during the war years, paintings, photographs and postcards. The collection is for use in the Reading Room only.
Online Catalogue
There is an online catalogue which is available in the library. The library uses the Library of Congress Cataloguing Scheme.
