How to Apply for Admission
The application period for the 2008/2009 academic year are now closed.
Applications are invited for admission in August 2008, to undergraduate degree programmes at the three (3) campuses of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados; Mona Campus, Jamaica; and St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago; Applications are open to all persons who satisfy the University's matriculation requirements for entry as well as such Faculty requirements as may obtain.
Applications for The Cave Hill Campus can be completed as follows:
- Applications for the Faculty of Medical Sciences must be submitted by February 29, 2008
- All other applications for the Cave Hill Campus must be submitted by January 30, 2008.
Applications are now closed for the 2008 period.
All applicants should note that the University has set up an application facility on Campus to assist with the completion of applications on-line.
Applicants who do not have access to a computer and those who experience difficulty in completing the application online, should come to the Admissions Office on campus where they will receive assistance.

Each applicant should complete and submit only one application to one undergraduate programme of first choice and if required state the programme of second choice and the Campus.
Applicants to undergraduate programmes in Distance or at Tertiary Level Institutions should clearly highlight this on the application in the space provided.
The following documents must be submitted whether you are applying on-line or on paper:
- Application fees
- Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate (where applicable)
- Legal Affidavit or deed poll if the name is different from that on the Birth Certificate.
- Academic certificates (GCE,CXC.CAPE, CSEC)
- Grade slips. (These are only accepted in cases where the certificate is not yet available)
- Professional Certificates/Diplomas
- Official Transcripts (these must be sent directly from the granting institution)
Applicants must submit original, or notarised copies of the above documents. These documents are necessary for the consideration of your application.
Applicants who do not possess a Grade 1 CXC or CSEC English, a Grade A in GCE 0' Level English, a Grade 1 in Cape Communication Studies or a Grade A or B in the GCE General Paper, are required to take the English Proficiency Test. The dates of the test will be advertised. Applicants are required to pay the equivalent of US $25.00 to cover the cost of the test.

Please note that if you are applying online the application fees will be waived.
Applicants are encouraged to take the UWI Open Scholarship Examination on February 25th & 26th, 2008. Further information can be obatined from the Examinations section on each campus.
