THE FACULTY OF LAW

Welcome to the Legal History and Empires Conference

The organizers of the “Legal Histories of the British Empire” Conference held in 2012 in Singapore and The University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus Faculties of Law and Humanities are pleased to announce the second conference “Legal History and Empires: Perspectives from the Colonized”. The conference will be hosted at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus in Barbados from July 10th-14th, 2018

Barbados is the eastern most of the Windward Islands. It offers some of the finest beaches in the Caribbean, award winning rums and flower gardens.  At the same time Barbados has a rich and complex history. It also retains many fine historical buildings. Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison form a UNESCO World Heritage Centre. The island also retains the house where George Washington lived in 1751 on his only visit outside the mainland North American Colonies.
