UWI Graduate gowns will be available for sale through the Bursary.

Graduates may RENT Gowns/Hoods/Mortarboards from the University on payment of a deposit representing the purchase price indicated below. This deposit must be paid to the Bursar at the time of rental and will be refunded less the rental charge of BDS$55.00 for Gowns, BDS$30.00 for Hoods, and BDS$40.00 for Mortarboards, on return.

Note however, it is recommended that you purchase your gown, hood, and or mortarboard as your own keepsake for any future academic function.

Certified Bank Cheques, Bank Drafts or Money Orders for the equivalent in Barbados currency of the purchase price/rental deposit of the gown/hood/mortarboard, should be made payable to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill. Cash payments will also be accepted at the Campus Cashier. Please note that personal cheques will not be accepted after October 8, 2011; and that the opening hours of the Cashier at Cave Hill Bursary are 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. ONLY. No payments will be received outside of this arrangement.

Gowns and Hoods may be collected from the Lobby of The Roy Marshall Teaching Complex, Cave Hill Campus from MONDAY, October 17, 2011 to THURSDAY October 20, 2011 from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and FRIDAY, October 21, 2011 from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. ONLY.

Gowns/Hoods/Mortarboards should be collected by the graduate ONLY.

GRADUATES MUST PRODUCE THE RECEIPT FROM THE BURSARY’S CASHIER BEFORE BEING ISSUED WITH THE GOWN/HOOD/MORTARBOARD.

The deposit, less the rental fee of BDS$55.00 for Gowns, BDS$30.00 for Hoods, and BDS$40.00 for Mortarboards will be refunded only when the garments are returned to the University in good condition.

Refunds will be paid from Monday, October 24, 2011 on presentation of your receipt received from the Bursary’s Cashier.

If you wish the refund cheque to be paid to someone other than yourself, you should indicate this in writing when collecting your gown/hood.

Graduates are asked to return the rented Gowns and Hoods to the Roy Marshall Teaching Complex, Cave Hill Campus by FRIDAY, October 28, 2011 between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00p.m. Failure to do so by this date will result in a fine of BDS$50.00 up to November 4, 2011 and BDS$100.00 thereafter.

In addition, the deposit paid for the rental of the Gown/Hood/Mortarboard will be forfeited if these items are not returned to the Examinations Section by Friday, November 11, 2011.

GOWNS/HOODS/MORTARBOARDS must be carefully examined before receipt as they will either not be accepted in damaged condition, or if accepted, a penalty fee will be charged.

Non-resident graduates who will be attending the Ceremony should make special arrangements with the Assistant Registrar – Examinations for collection and return of Gowns/Hoods/Mortarboards outside of the normal period. You may do so in writing via facsimile or email. If you are requesting someone to collect on your behalf, please indicate so in writing together with the REPLY FORM, giving the name of the person.
